Kantha Home offers unique Kantha quilts and other accessories handmade by vulnerable and at-risk women in Bangladesh. Our partner, Basha Boutique gives vulnerable and at-risk Bengali women a dignified place to work where they can learn the ancient art of Kantha in a healthy, healing environment. In the Bengali language, Basha means "house" and asha means "hope". Basha's mission is to help rescue women from the sex trade by giving women an opportunity to earn a livelihood based honest means for a fair wage. Our mission at Kantha Home is to help these women by spreading Basha's mission and offering these amazing product to a greater audience in the US.
All products offered by Kantha Home are handmade in Bangladesh. Each Kantha blanket is hand stitched, in the ancient Kantha tradition, using six layers of reclaimed sari cloth to make a high-quality, fair-trade quilt in blanket, throw, and mini throw sizes. Kantha Home also features other handmade home goods made by the women of Basha.
